When are ballots being mailed out in Sacramento County?

In Sacramento County, ballots are being mailed to voters beginning on August 16th.

How can I register to vote or check my voter registration status?

If you are not registered to vote in Sacramento or need to re-register, you can do so here. If you believe you are already registered to vote, you can check your voter registration status here.

How can I track my ballot?

You can sign-up here to receive automatic email, text, or phone call notifications about your ballot, including when it is mailed to you, when it is received by the registrar of voters, and when it is counted.

How can I vote to stop the Republican Recall?

On Question 1, VOTE NO: “Shall Gavin Newsom be recalled (removed) from the Office of Governor?”

On Question 2, LEAVE IT BLANK. Governor Newsom is not a candidate you are able to vote for on Question 2.

When you are done filling out your ballot, be sure to place it in the envelope, seal it, and sign and date the envelope!

What options do I have for sending my ballot back?

Option 1: Mail it back. You can send your ballot back through the mail, and we recommend you mail it back as soon as possible! Postage is prepaid, so you do not need to use a stamp. In order to be properly counted, ballots that are mailed back must be postmarked by Election Day (September 14) and received by the Sacramento County Registrar of Voters no later than three days after Election Day.

Option 2: Drop it off at a ballot drop box. Your can also drop your ballot off at a ballot drop box in Sacramento County by Election Day, September 14. You can find a list of ballot drop boxes in Sacramento County here. Ballot drop boxes are available from August 16 to Election Day, September 14.

Option 3: Drop it off at a vote center. You can also drop off your ballot at a vote center. You can find a list of Sacramento County vote centers that are open from September 4 through September 14 here. Option 4: Vote in person. Beginning on August 16, you can vote in person at the Sacramento County Registrar of Voters (7000 65th Street Suite A, Sacramento CA 95823) Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM. You can vote in person at Sacramento County vote centers that are open beginning on September 4, a list of which can be found here. Can someone else drop off my ballot at a ballot drop box or at a vote center?

Yes! You can designate another person to drop off your ballot at either a ballot drop box or a vote center in Sacramento County. Be sure to also have that person sign and date the envelope, in addition to providing your own signature and date.

Can I drop off my ballot at a ballot drop box, vote center, or poling place in another county?

If you drop off your ballot at a ballot drop box, vote center, or poling place outside of Sacramento County, you run the risk that your ballot may not be properly counted in time. Your best option to be sure that your ballot is counted is to drop it off at a ballot drop box or vote center in Sacramento County.
